When you study with ILSC at our English School in Ireland, you'll immerse yourself in a rich cultural experience, a safe and friendly environment, and a world-class education system.
Ireland is a top choice for international students thanks to its world-class education system and generous student work rights. With a popular work and study Ireland option, non-EU/EEA students can gain valuable international work experience while improving their English. Outside the classroom, enjoy easy travel across the country, vibrant student life, and the chance to build global friendships and career skills that last a lifetime.
Life in Ireland offers the perfect balance of old-world charm and modern living. Whether you're in the lively city or Dublin, or exploring Ireland's other cities, quaint villages and rugged coastlines, you'll experience a lifestyle that's relaxed, welcoming, and filled with culture. Ireland’s compact size means you're never far from the sea, rolling hills, or a cozy café with live music.
Irish food is hearty and comforting, made with fresh ingredients from land and sea. Enjoy traditional dishes like Irish stew, soda bread, colcannon, and fresh Atlantic seafood. In recent years, Ireland’s food culture has expanded to include global flavours, artisan producers, and award-winning restaurants in even the smallest towns. No visit is complete without trying a perfectly poured pint of Guinness, brewed in Dublin since 1759, or sampling locally distilled Irish whiskeys and a growing range of craft beers. Not a fan of alcohol? No problem—Ireland is just as proud of its strong tea culture, cozy cafés, and homemade desserts like sticky toffee pudding or apple tart.
Ireland is the birthplace of literary giants like James Joyce, W.B. Yeats, and Oscar Wilde—and the arts continue to thrive today. From music festivals and theatre to street performances and traditional Irish dancing, there’s always something to experience! Explore museums, castles, ancient ruins, and a rich tradition of storytelling that connects past and present.
Live music remains a beloved tradition. In local pubs, you’ll often stumble upon impromptu sessions of fiddles, guitars, and bodhráns filling the air with rhythm and soul—just one more way Ireland makes everyday moments feel extraordinary.
Plan your budget to cover daily living expenses alongside tuition and travel costs. Students in Dublin typically spend between €1000–€1,500 per month (excluding tuition), depending on lifestyle and housing choices. You can manage costs by living in shared accommodation or a homestay, preparing your own meals, and taking advantage of student discounts and free city events.
Ireland is one of the safest countries in Europe, with a low crime rate and a strong sense of community. Like anywhere, it's important to be aware of your surroundings, take care of your belongings, and stay informed. The Irish are famously friendly and helpful, and you'll likely feel at home quickly.
All non-EU/EEA students are required to have travel or medical insurance that meets Irish immigration requirements. ILSC Dublin offers a Student Travel Policy that meets these standards, and we will include it in your invoice unless you provide proof of alternative compliant coverage. For EU students, your policy should cover emergency medical expenses, repatriation, flight cancellations, personal possessions, and personal liability. If needed, ILSC can help arrange insurance. Please have your insurance documents ready for arrival.

Many students choose Ireland because it offers the opportunity to work while you study English. If you're a non-EU/EEA student, you can work part-time (up to 20 hours per week) during your 25-week English program, and full-time (up to 40 hours per week) during specified holiday periods—typically in the summer (June–September) and over the winter holidays (mid-December to mid-January).
If you're a citizen of the EU/EEA, you have the right to live and work in Ireland with fewer restrictions. EU/EEA students can join us for any length of study to strengthen their English skills and support their employability in Ireland.
