Effective January 15th, 2022, 00:01 (EST), international students must be fully vaccinated in order to enter Canada. In most cases, fully-vaccinated students are exempt from quarantine. Learn more about what you need to do to ensure a safe and smooth entry, and what supports and services we offer to help you.

Entry Requirements for Fully Vaccinated Students

The below information is summarized from the Government of Canada's guidance for COVID-19 vaccinated travellers entering Canada. To ensure you have the most up to date and detailed information, please review the government website before travelling.

Submit your mandatory travel information using the ArriveCAN mobile or web application.

  • All arriving travellers must use the ArriveCAN app 
  • Information must be submitted within 72 hours of your arrival to Canada

To qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller, at least 15 calendar days prior to the day you travel you must have received :

  • at least 2 doses of a vaccine accepted by the Government of Canada for the purpose of travel
  • OR a mix of 2 accepted vaccines
  • OR at least 1 dose of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine

The following COVID-19 vaccines are accepted by the Government of Canada for travel to or within Canada:

  • AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD (ChAdOx1-S, Vaxzevria, AZD1222)
  • Bharat Biotech (Covaxin, BBV152 A, B, C)
  • Janssen/Johnson & Johnson
  • Moderna (mRNA-1273)
  • Novavax (NVX-COV2373, Nuvaxovid, Covovax)
  • Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty, tozinameran, BNT162b2)
  • Sinopharm BIBP (BBIBP-CorV)
  • Sinovac (CoronaVac, PiCoVacc)

Your proof of vaccination must be uploaded in the ArriveCan App, and you should carry a printed or digital copy with you. You must provide your official proof in English or French (Or a certified translation).

Upon your entry to Canada by air or at a land border crossing, a border services officer may notify you that you have been randomly selected for a mandatory arrival test.

Fully vaccinated travellers who have been selected for an arrival test are not required to quarantine while awaiting their test result.

However, if you test positive, you must isolate for 10 days.

When you book your accommodations with ILSC & Greystone College, your accommodation package can be easily converted to support self-isolation for a minimal additional fee*, making it easy for you to meet this entry requirement.

*Quarantine upgrade rate will only be charged if and when required.

Accommodations For Fully Vaccinated Students

If you’re fully vaccinated, you can take advantage of our regular accommodation options. All fully vaccinated students must pay ILSC’s accommodation placement fee as part of the backup quarantine plan that is required by border officials. We also offer optional add-on services to support your smooth entry:

  • Accommodation placement fee ($230) - required
  • a SIM card ($50) - recommended
  • Airport pickup ($110) - recommended

Unvaccinated, Partially Vaccinated or Students Vaccinated with a Vaccine Not Approved in Canada.

Effective January 15, 2022, 00:01 (EST), international students who were previously allowed to enter Canada without being fully vaccinated are now required to be fully vaccinated in order to enter Canada regardless of whether they have a valid study permit or not.
