Achieve your goals at Greystone College Australia

Learn what to expect as a student at Greystone College, and what resources, tools, and supports are available to help you successfully achieve your learning goals.

Before You Begin

Greystone College hold an orientation for all new students. You will be notified of this by email. It is critical you attend orientation to ensure you are fully informed of your timetable, study requirements, meet the trainers and tour the campus.

At this time, you should consider applying for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT). The application must be made within six weeks of course commencement.

You will also need to complete some documentation for us using the Learning Management System MOODLE. Our student advisors can help you do this. You will also need to apply for a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

All students doing nationally recognised training need to have a USI. The USI is a reference number made up of 10 numbers and letters that:

    • creates a secure online record of your nationally recognised training and qualifications gained in Australia;
    • will give you 24 hour access to your training records and transcripts online;
    • is free and easy to create and stays with you for life

If you are a new or continuing student undertaking nationally recognised training, you need a USI in order to receive your qualification of statement of attainment. If you don't have a USI you will not receive your qualification or statement of attainment.

      As an international student once you have arrived in Australia your visa will be activated and you will be able to apply for a USI. You will also receive a reminder email from our GC team.

Your Timetable

In all of our programs, you will build a timetable which combines 14 hours a week of face-to-face, in-class study and six hours per week online study. The in class study component includes exercises, discussion forums, and resources to help with assignments and to provide foundational academic and learning skills. The online study component features the core lectures with additional online assessment support and observations available.

How to Succeed

Your success is important to us. Here are some tips:

  • Students should attend all scheduled classes.
  • It is important to complete your assessments on or before the due date. Check with your trainer to ensure you know when your assessment for each unit is due.
  • You have 3 attempts to submit your assessment. Always check the trainer feedback in the VET Student Portal (Moodle) and fix your assessment quickly.
  • Complete all online quizzes for each unit on Moodle. You need to get 100%.
  • We will always communicate with you using your email address. Please check this account regularly.

What happens if you fall behind?

All students must maintain satisfactory course progress. You need to achieve a minimum 50% competency of the course during a study period. Continuous breach of this condition may lead to expulsion and reporting to the Department of Education/Department of Home Affairs. We recommend you monitor your progress via the VET Student Portal (Moodle).

Academic Support

If you need support throughout your study, we encourage you to meet with your trainer as early as possible. Alternatively, you may request to meet with the Director of Training. During the scheduled breaks, we run a Bootcamp, a tuition program available to all students. This is a great opportunity for students to catch up on their assessments. Remember, if you need personal advice or guidance please talk to a bilingual student advisor immediately.

Assessments

All units studied in this qualification will be assessed in at least 3 different ways. Assessments will consist of a mix of quizzes, projects, case studies, presentations, and questions.

Course Completion

Students obtaining a ‘Competent’ result for all units studied will be issued a qualification – example: BSB52415 Diploma of Marketing & Communication. Should a student not complete the full qualification, a statement of attainment will be issued for the units which the student is deemed ‘Competent’. All Greystone College programs are Nationally Recognised Training. The Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) logo is a distinguishable mark of quality for promoting and certifying national vocational education and training leading to Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications or Statements of Attainment.
