Melbourne is famous for its amazing street art which is spread throughout the city, but concentrated in some of the city’s popular pedestrian-friendly laneways like Hosier lane, Duckboard Place, Tattersalls Lane, and Presgrave Place to name a few. When you feel like a break from your art walk, stop for a delicious flat white, or a pint at a popular laneway café or pub.
See the spectacular city of Melbourne from 285 meters high in the Melbourne Skydeck. Located in the Eureka building in Southpoint, the Skydeck offers some of the most amazing views of the city. You can also enjoy the virtual reality Plank, a bar, a theatre, or "The Edge" experience. One floor up, check out Eureka 89 restaurant to add fine dining to your views!
Just an hour away from Melbourne, Mornington Peninsula is a perfect escape from the city to enjoy stunning seaside walks, and amazing quiet beaches. Come for a day or discover the peninsula over a weekend – the area has some great campsites, making this a student-budget-friendly destination.
Hop on the tram to St Kilda Beach for some sand and surf. Walk, rollerblade or cycle along the seaside paths, or try out kiteboarding or windsurfing. You can also just relax on the beach and go for a swim. If you head out to the breakwater near sunset, you’ll likely see the resident penguins returning after a day of fishing. And when you want a break from relaxing, local restaurants and cafes abound!
If you’re a sports fan, the Melbourne Cricket Ground is for you! The stadium regularly hosts cricket, rugby, Australian Football League, and soccer (football) matches, and was the main venue for the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games and the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Australians love their sports, so make sure to stop in for a game and find out what all the buzz and fanfare is about!
This 243-km stretch of road winds its way along the coast starting just south of Melbourne in Torquay and finishing in Allansford. This beloved drive offers amazing views and places for adventure with highlights like the famous 12 apostles rock formations, Bells Beach, Anglesea, Great Otway National Park, Port Fairy fishing village and so much more. The great ocean road is a must-do!
