“In the early 1980s I went to live and work as an English language teacher in Bilbao in the Basque Country in Spain. Initially the experience was challenging as my spoken Spanish was incredibly weak. But I persevered and by the time I left Bilbao I was fluent in Spanish and I'd gained my first valuable work experience in international education. “Living in Mexico from the ages of 4 to 11 opened my eyes to different cultures and ways of thinking. “I’ve always been a curious soul wanting to travel and read about the world beyond where I am from, South Korea. I started my career as a librarian following my love of books then moving on to working for airline to pursue international travel to feed my curiosity, then ended up in Australia since 2002. I did not stop traveling up until last year then started falling in love with yoga and meditation over the last 2 years getting to know more about myself through nurturing my mind and body. “As part of my bachelor’s degree, I spent a year in semi-rural France as an English language assistant in 1992/93 then, for want of any clear long term career plan, I spent a further year teaching English in Lithuania in 1994/95 in a public high school. These two experiences gave me a desire to work in international education and I have spent the last 22 years working with agents and students to achieve their study abroad goals.

“The first experience I had to be in a foreign country, alone, was when I was 12. I went to Canada for a junior program and had so much fun. After that, I decided to leave Japan to learn English when I was 16, and then went to Canada to complete my degree when I was 18. “The year I graduated from university, I embarked on a trip to Canada. It was my first time abroad, first time flying by myself, first time living on my own, first time I understood how big the world is. I didn't plan my trip before I set off because I know that no plan is the best plan. The results confirmed that I gained more than I expected, both physically and psychologically. Not only did I improve my language skills, and made friends from all over the world, but I also got to know myself, understand what I want, and establish my purpose in life! “In the spring of 2001, I got a full Research Scholarship from Michigan Technological University's PhD program in Materials Science and Engineering, but my visa application was rejected 3 times due to the 911 effect. I was so disappointed at that time. But as the old saying goes: When God closed one door, he opens another. I made up my mind to work in the Overseas Study Industry so that I could help other students who want to study in USA but have difficulty with the application process or visa interview. I worked in large Chinese agencies for many years. Under my counseling, many students who were rejected four, or even seven times in their visa interviews successfully got their visas. Though it is a little unrealistic for me to study a PhD at this age, I feel a great sense of achievement and accomplishment when my students get offers from their dream schools and get their visas with sweet smiles.

I started to work with ELS when I was working in Chinese agencies. I also attended an ELS Famtour in 2008, and it was my first trip to the United States. In 2010, the former ELS Director of Recruitment for South and East Asia called me from Singapore and asked me whether I was interested in working for ELS as Agent Support Manager. I was so excited and said YES! This moment marked the beginning of my fantastic adventure of 13 years of ELS career life! In 2022, I witnessed another historic moment, which is the merging of ELS and ILSC. The two excellent companies combed together have 100 years of history! I am very proud to be a member of this great ELS and ILSC family, and I am looking forward to another 13 years of fantastic adventures here! ”

“My friends call me Esme. I am a coffeeholic, a mother, and a sales manager proudly representing ILSC in Mexico. I had my first transformative learning experience while I was doing my internship in the international affairs office of my University. “I traveled as an international student to the United Kingdom back in 2015 to improve my English. “Scuba diving is without a doubt one of the most transformative experiences for me, I started practicing this sport 8 years ago and ever since my perception of the world changed. Not only has scuba diving taken me to different place all around the world but it made me understand how complex our planet really is,and the importance of taking care of it. Thanks to this sport I have met people from all around the world and made life long friendships.”

“My first experience abroad was in London when I was 24 years old. After completing my master’s degree program, to gain international experience and improve my English, I travelled to London for an English program. To be honest, during my flight, I was so nervous due to my English level. At the airport, I saw only English words. I felt lost. I could not explain myself at the customs office. The customs officer spoke to me very calmly and understood me. The conversation took about 10 minutes. At the end of the conversation, the officer told me that after my English course, I will speak very good English. This conversation motivated me during my English language adventure in London. I worked on my English during my free time at the school. I visited museums in London. I met a lot of people from different countries. I heard different accents. I tried lots of different cuisines. I spoke to people about their lives and countries. It was a different feeling to understand foreign people in English. Sometimes, we made mistakes; although, nobody gave up. All my friends tried to speak English and understand each other. At the end of my adventure, I understood that these people have a different life than me. I need to see different countries and their lifestyles. Then, I started to work in the international education industry. I have been helping students to improve their education and professional career since 2013.”

“My grand life adventure kicked off in 2013 when I moved from Spain to Cyprus to continue my university studies in Tourism. Living there got me even more hooked on travel, and I spent the next few years exploring different countries around Europe. By 2016, I figured it was time for a new chapter and moved to Australia. Down Under, I ventured into the international education industry, where I discovered that I could combine two of my biggest passions: education and travel.

I enjoy helping others find educational opportunities while continuing to feed my love for travel and all the benefits that come with it.
