Earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma while you study academic English.

Study Academic English while you complete 8 full-credit courses* to receive your high school diploma.

Earn a High School diploma recognized across Canada while gaining the English language ability and academic skills needed to succeed in higher education. In this supported program, you'll build a customized learning plan designed to help you complete the prerequisites you need to move on to your chosen higher education program.

Complete 8 high school credits to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). The OSSD is recognized by post-secondary institutions in Canada, the U.K., the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, among other countries giving you access to a wider range of post-secondary institutions as you pursue your academic goals.

What you’ll learn

The ILSC High School Program: Foundation Year program combines ILSC English for Academic Purposes classes with TVO ILC Study Blocks to complete your high school credit courses. 

ILSC English for Academic Purposes: strengthen your academic reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. You’ll improve your grammar accuracy and build your vocabulary by exploring academic topics.

High School Credit Courses: Choose from a variety of course options to obtain your Ontario Secondary School Diploma and to meet prerequisites for your future higher education goals. Sample classes include:

  • GRADE 11: English (ENG3U), Functions (MCR3U), Functions and Applications (MCF3M), Environmental Science (SVN3M), Biology (SBI3U), Physics (SPH3U), Chemistry (SCH3U)
  • GRADE 12: English (ENG4U), Mathematics of Data Management (MDM4U), Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), Advanced Functions (MHF4U), Science (SNC4M), Physics (SPH4U), Earth and Space Sciences (SES4U), Chemistry (SCH4U), Biology (SBI4U)

Monday - Friday

  • 8:30am – 1:oopm* ILSC English for Academic Purposes (core)
  • 1:00pm – 2:15pm TVO ILC Credit Course Study Block 1**
  • 2:30pm – 5:15pm TVO ILC Credit Course Study Block 2**
*Session 8 timetable is fully allocated to TVO ILC Credit Course study and does not include ILSC English for Academic Purposes.
**Time allocated to the TVO ILC High School Program credit portion is self-directed and flexible. A minimum of 20 hours of study time per week is required for completion within 8 sessions.

  • 11:00am –  2:oopm ILSC English for Academic Purposes (core)*
  • 2:00pm –  3:15pm TVO ILC Credit Course Study Block 1**
  • 4:00pm – 6:45pm TVO ILC Credit Course Study Block 2**

Seamless Entry into Higher Education

In the ILSC High School Program: Foundation Year program, ILSC’s university pathway specialists will support you with choosing and applying to a college, TAFE, or university program. To obtain your diploma, you’ll complete the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test, which meets the English language requirement for seamless entry to ILSC’s partner schools, or any higher education institution.

TVO ILC has been operating for more than 90 years and currently offers over 35,000 courses to students from around the world. As an official TVO ILC trusted partner, ILSC students will receive the language support they require in addition to the credits they need to achieve their academic goals.
