FAQs about ELS Vancouver's integration with ILSC

ELS Vancouver is integrating with the ILSC Vancouver operations, academic program, and student service delivery umbrella. We know you may be wondering how this impacts your current or future study plans at ELS. We want to assure you that our two organizations are bringing together our strengths to support continuity in an unparalleled learning experience. We’re doing everything to ensure a smooth transition for our students, staff, teachers, and agent partners. Please see below for answers to some of your top questions.

ELS Vancouver officially becomes ILSC Vancouver as of Monday, April 4th, 2022 (the end of session 3 at ELS).

Students in ELS Vancouver’s Intensive English program will transition to ILSC Vancouver’s Intensive program.  Your program will include the exact same number of study hours (25) and lessons per week (30 lessons), and your ELS level will be matched with the right course level to meet your needs within ILSC’s level system.

Your study will run from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM Monday to Friday with morning and lunch breaks each day.  You can review ILSC’s schedules here.

Students in ELS Vancouver’s Semi-Intensive program will transfer into ILSC’s Full-Time program which is 20 hours or 24 lessons per week. For Semi-Intensive students, once you switch to ILSC’s Full-Time program you’ll enjoy an extra 3 hours or 4 lessons per week!

ILSC offers the Full-Time program in two schedules. The Full-Time Morning schedule runs from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM Monday to Friday with a morning break each day. The Full-Time Afternoon schedule runs from 1:15-5:15 PM Monday to Friday. You will be placed in either the Full-Time Morning or Full-Time Afternoon schedule depending on your level and class availability. You can review ILSC’s schedules here

While ELS’s Vancouver Summer Youth Program will shift under ILSC Vancouver, the program itself will follow the exact same format as the ELS program. Students will continue to live and study amid the stunning natural beauty of North Vancouver. We’re very excited to welcome youth students back to Vancouver this summer.

While ELS’s Vancouver Family Program will shift under ILSC Vancouver, the program itself will follow the exact same format as the ELS program.

While ELS’s Vancouver English and Culture for the Modern Adult Program will shift under ILSC Vancouver, the program itself will follow the exact same format as the ELS program.

Starting on April 4th, ELS Vancouver students will study at ILSC Vancouver’s campuses, located just a few blocks away from the current ELS location, in Vancouver’s city centre. Classes may take place at ILSC’s 555 Richards Street Campus, or the 560 Granville Street Campus. Students will be informed in advance which campus(es) to attend once they are placed in the appropriate classes.

If you already have a pathway plan confirmed with ELS Vancouver, ILSC will support you in exactly the same way. ILSC will work with you to convert your pathway plan and documents to ensure that you can effectively achieve your goal of entering the post-secondary program you originally planned to attend through ELS Vancouver.

Both ELS and ILSC are committed to ensuring the complete satisfaction and academic progression of each, and every student and are excited to offer you the best of two premier organizations in our industry.

Many of ELS Vancouver’s faculty and staff will be integrated into the ILSC Vancouver centre so you will see lots of familiar faces joining you through this transition. At the same time, you will get to meet new teachers and staff who are ready to support you on your continued learning journey.

If you have already submitted your study permit application using ELS Vancouver’s LOA, you can continue with your existing application. After your visa and study permit are approved, you or your agent can update your IRCC file with a new LOA from ILSC to support your travel to Canada. This will ensure your study permit application is not delayed in any way.
