Negative COVID-19 Test Now Required for Travel to Canada
Effective January 7, 2021, at 12:01 a.m. EST, all air passengers five years of age or older will be required to test negative for COVID-19 before travelling from another country into Canada.
Travellers must present documentation of their negative laboratory test result to their airline before boarding their flight to Canada. The test must be performed using a COVID-19 molecular polymerase chain reaction (or PCR) test and must be taken within 72 hours before the scheduled departure to Canada. Please advise students to check with their airline for a list of acceptable COVID-19 PCR testing locations in their country of departure.
The negative COVID-19 PCR test is a new, additional requirement implemented by the government of Canada. See the Canadian government news release for more details. Please note that all travellers must still complete the full, mandatory 14-day quarantine.
We’ve updated our Quarantine Guide to reflect these new changes.
Reminder about our Quarantine Packages
We just wanted to quickly remind you about our quarantine packages for students entering Canada. Canada continues to require 14 days of mandatory quarantine. Our quarantine accommodation packages will set students up for a safe and easy arrival to Canada in compliance with current requirements.
As the Canada rolls out its vaccination plan, we’re looking forward to seeing more and more students coming back to discover amazing learning experiences here. We’re here to support your Canadian study dreams!
