Green Standard Schools Accreditation:
We are thrilled to announce that both ILSC Brisbane and ILSC Vancouver have been accredited under Green Standard Schools!
We are proud and excited to partner with Green Standard Schools, which is a global, not-for-profit association of language schools that are seriously committed to protecting the environment.
Through Green Standard Schools, we will focus our commitment on:
- Reducing the amount of energy consumed in the school and switch to sustainable energy suppliers where possible.
- Reducing the amount of water consumed in the school.
- Reducing the amount of paper consumed and move towards a paperless operation.
- Discouraging the use of pointless plastics by all staff, students and suppliers.
- Reusing and recycling everything brought into the school that can usefully be reused or cycled.
- Reducing the environmental impact of purchases e.g. by using local supply chains.
- Reducing the environmental impact of all marketing activities.
- Compensating for the carbon generated by students and staff travelling to the school – especially international students!
- Encouraging providers of accommodation services to adopt sustainable practices.
- Including activities that benefit the environment in the school’s program of social activities.
- Ensuring that all staff and students are aware of the school’s environmental policies.
- Systematically including environmental issues in the teaching curriculum.
Going forward in 2023, we will work towards our goal of having all ILSC campuses with Green Standard Schools accreditation.
LifeWorks Employee Assistance Program:
As we enter the New Year, for many this is a time for renewed self-focus and personal goal setting, including New Year’s resolutions.
To support our staff, we want to remind all of you that LifeWorks, our Employee Assistance Program, has tools and resources for well-being (mind, relationships, body, finances, etc.) as well as confidential counselling services to support your 2023 goals.
We will also be arranging for LifeWorks to host sessions for our staff to learn more about all that they have to offer. Initiations to be shared shortly with all staff.

ILSC & Greystone College HR Initiatives to look for in Q1 2023:
Global Policy Manual:
- As we begin 2023, we will be sharing our updated Global Policy Manual, which will include enhancements to some of our policies, including:
- Accessibility Policy: updated to include clarification for employees on how to request workplace medical accommodations, where required.
- Environment Policy: updated to include key elements of the Green Standard School commitments.
- Travel Reimbursement.
- We will also be introducing the following new policies in 2023:
- Electronic Monitoring Policy: In the interest of full transparency and respect for the privacy of all employees, we are disclosing via the Electronic Monitoring Policy, the monitoring activities undertaken at ILSC, Greystone College, and ELS.
- EthicsPoint Line: Introduction of the EthicsPoint Line to provide an avenue for staff to confidentially raise concerns in instances where they believe there have been a violation of company policies and/or standards.
All staff will receive an electronic copy of the Global Policy Manual – 2023. Upon receipt of the updated policy manual, should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your Manager and/or to Human Resources.
HR System:
- We will be piloting our new HRIS system (BambooHR) in Q1 2023 that will include:
- An enhanced careers page on ilsc.com and a global recruitment platform to showcase all of our job postings
- Automation of onboarding tasks, including digital new hire forms and e-signatures
- Centralized Cloud Files for all employees
- With the launch of the program in Q1 2023, employee’s will be required to:
- Login
- Confirm personal information, including emergency contact information
- Select whether they would like to celebrate their birthday
- Review and sign off on our updated 2023 Global Policy Manual
