About ELS Philadelphia:
ELS Philadelphia is located on the beautiful campus of Saint Joseph’s University in northeast Philadelphia. The ELS Philadelphia center has been on SJU’s campus for over 40 years and offers a welcoming and exciting environment for students from around the world. Since reopening in September 2020, the center has hosted hundreds of students of 56 different nationalities. With highly experienced instructors and staff, ELS Philadelphia offers a unique and diverse environment for every student.
The city of Philadelphia also provides countless possibilities for international students and visitors. As one of the oldest and most historic cities in the United States, Philadelphia offers rich cultural opportunities to suit a wide range of tastes. The city’s diverse neighbourhoods and thriving arts scene provide excitement around every corner. While in Philadelphia, it is also just a short trip to both New York City and Washington D.C.!
Meet the ELS/Philadelphia Staff:
Chris Wallett, Center Director – Chris has worked at ELS for over eight years and has been the Center Director at ELS Philadelphia since September 2020. He enjoys the cultural exchange that occurs every day at ELS and meeting students from around the world. Chris' goal is to empower students through language and education to build their future as global citizens.
John Catlett, Academic Director/Assistant Center Director – John has been with ELS for four years. As Academic Director and Assistant Center Director, he oversees instructional staff, curriculum, and students and serves on the Curriculum Advisory Board at ELS. He believes in centring the success of our programs on the student experience.
Eric Rinehimer, Assistant Academic Director – Eric has been an English Teacher for more than ten years and has been teaching at ELS Philadelphia for one year. In addition to teaching regular classes, he assists with instructional staff and curriculum oversight as the Assistant Academic Director and aids students at ELS with academic counselling.
Megan Fenn, International Student Advisor - Megan has worked as the International Student Advisor in Philadelphia for about six years. It is her job to make sure students are following the legal guidelines when it comes to their VISA status. She also helps students with the non-academic side of student life such as college counseling, personal counseling, housing issues, social activities, and getting around the local area.
