Our school's mission is to be one of the finest providers of language instruction in the world. We are currently looking for motivated and experienced teachers of Japanese, Russian, Vietnamese and Arabic for small group classes and one-on-one tutoring.
Hours available: from 2 hours/week to 10 hours/week.
Entry Level Employment Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant subject from a recognized university
- Certificate in language instructing & 2 years of experience teaching Japanese, Russian, Vietnamese or Arabic (focus on spoken Arabic, not literary; Egyptian or Lebanese accent preferred)
- Successful interview
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teachers prepare lessons designed to increase students' speaking skills and listening comprehension, their accuracy and fluency, appropriate to a broad range of situations and needs, and in accordance with the ILSC philosophy of student-centered teaching. High quality delivery is expected.
- Eliciting students' interests and language needs in an organized way
- Assessing students language needs and planning lessons
- Submitting structured Weekly Lesson Plans that are also to be shared with students
- Selecting appropriate materials and resources (generated by students, teachers, or from ILSC Resources and Media)
- Using materials effectively
- Creating an atmosphere that encourages all students equally in self-expression, self-reflection, cooperation and leadership
- Evaluating progress (ongoing) and conferring with students individually according to the specifics objectives highlighted in the Weekly Lesson Plan
